Dr Janesh P Ganda

About

Dr Janesh Ganda has worked in Sports and Exercise Medicine since 2016 as an associate at Cape Sports Medicine practice in Cape Town. He started off as the Team Physician for the Boland Cavaliers from June 2016 – October 2017 and was assisted by the consultants within the Cape Sports Medicine practice and UCT. He was then appointed as the Team Physician for the Junior structures of Western Province rugby, taking care of the squads participating in the Supersport Challenge under coach John Dobson, and the U21 Currie Cup team for their 2018 season. In 2018, he was appointed to work with the Springbok Women, who were re-entering the international stage. He worked with them as they built up towards their first Outbound tour to play against Wales, Spain and Italy. In 2019, he was appointed as the Junior Springboks Team Doctor on their journey to the Junior World Cup in Argentina, where they finished in 3rd place. He has also been appointed to be the Team Physician for the SA Schools side for their annual AON series which takes place in Cape Town annually. In 2022, Janesh was appointed as the Team Dr for the Springbok Sevens team. He is currently undertaking his PhD through Wits University, looking at Concussion in Rugby Union Players. He is currently the Western Cape Co-chair for SASMA (South African Sports Medicine Association).

Janesh’s specific interests lie in the management of acute/chronic (rehab driven or the use of infiltrations for management) musculoskeletal injuries and concussion management with the goal of efficient diagnosis and rehabilitation. 

Janesh was also recently named in the Mail and Guardian 200 Young South Africans, in the Sports Category.

Dr Minjon Ras

We would like to welcome Dr Minjon Ras, a Sports Physician, to our practice starting from January 2024. Minjon graduated from the University of the Free State in 2016 with her medical undergraduate degree. She then took on her Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine, of which she completed her coursework in 2023. She is now undertaking her thesis which is focused on the SA Under 20 rugby team. Minjon is also currently undertaking her Wilderness Medicine course, and has completed her Level 1 ultrasound course (SonoSkills) and Basic Underwater Medicine course (Stellenbosch University).

Minjon is an accomplished sportswoman, who has represented SA hockey at the Under 21 level. Minjon is still actively involved in sport as an athlete and from a medical side, regularly supporting the medical teams at events such a Two Oceans, UTCT, Cape Town Marathon and at major SA Rugby tournaments.

Minjon brings a wealth of new expertise to the practice, including ultrasound guided infiltrations and diagnostics. Minjon also has a specific interest in female health in relation to exercise.

She will be consulting a few days a week and patients can be booked in directly with her by contacting Nell Mare.
